Danbury Child Care Center
At Miss Mia's Early Bird Preschool, we are Early Childhood educators who love our work! Nurturing, encouraging, and respecting our students comes easy to us. We believe that helping children to adapt to the school environment is a large part of kindergarten readiness, and so, we model positive attitudes, we facilitate conflict resolution and independence, and we teach that the only failure is in not trying.
Because education of the whole child is at the core of our basic tenets, we feel strongly about manners, curiosity and integrity. Outdoor play is an important part of our day, where kids are never discouraged from getting dirty! And while we are helping a child to safely master a new skill, we are also discussing polite behavior that is considerate of others.
Kids learn about using self reflection to diagnose possible causes of a disagreement. They learn empathy, while also learning to advocate for themselves. They gain confidence through many positive interactions, and through successful experiences in their new community.
Watching our students run toward the classroom at the beginning of each day says it all!
We are a play-based preschool, whose mission is to facilitate positive social exchanges among our students, thereby providing a solid foundation for future success. We believe in Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence Theory, and we borrow from Montessori, Waldorf and Reggio Emilia philosophies, resulting in a multifaceted approach, which recognizes the unique needs of each child.
We remain steadfast to the belief that play and developmental appropriateness are musts for children’s successful encounters. These tenets, combined with our abundant patience, means that we delight in every accomplishment of our young friends. We get to know each child’s strengths and weaknesses, and the specifics that will get each one ready for kindergarten.
